Andrew Carr: “We didn’t come this far to come this far” (and what does that mean?)…

The Kentucky Wildcats are back in Lexington as they await their NCAA Tournament path this upcoming Sunday. The point guard-less Wildcats lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide Friday night in blowout fashion, 99-70.

Despite the painful setback, senior forward Andrew Carr isn’t ready to see this season go by the wayside.

Carr spoke to the media after the loss and had a great quote as he touched on the Wildcats’ performance:

“We didn’t come this far to come this far. We’re going to look in the mirror and try to get better and focus on the NCAA Tournament.”

Carr, the veteran power forward, finished the game with 18 points on 8/10 shooting from the field, showing he’s still fully capable of the ‘Big-Game Carr’ we’ve seen in wins over teams like Duke and Gonzaga.

The transfer from Wake Forest has never played in the NCAA Tournament, so this will be a new experience for him. But if he can play like he did vs. the Tide, Kentucky has a real chance to make it to the second weekend for the first time since 2019.

The Wildcats will also need to overcome some crucial injuries as they prepare for the tournament. They got good news regarding point guard Lamont Butler as they look to get acclimated for a tournament run, while Travis Perry appeared to injure his hand in Friday’s game. No word on if he’s in danger of missing NCAA Tournament games though.
