Georgia man charged with kidnapping, accused of taking woman from Indiana to Missouri

Franklin County prosecutors charged a Georgia man after they said he kidnapped a woman in Indiana, raped her, and then drove her to Missouri.

Awoman at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri, had told law enforcement at the hospital that she had been kidnapped from Indiana.

Court documents state that she said on Friday, the truck that she was a passenger in had run out of gas.

She said a truck driver, later identified as Jose Aden Galvez-Mejia, had offered to give her a ride to the next exit.

She said the driver just kept on driving and even threw her phone out of the window.

She said he raped her in St. Louis County.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers arrested Galvez-Mejia near his tractor-trailer, which was along the side of Interstate 44 near mile marker 246.

Prosecutors charged him with First Degree Kidnapping – Facilitating A Felony – Inflicting Injury – Terrorizing.

Galvez-Mejia was being held in the Franklin County Jail without bond.
