Dame Sarr On What Drew Him To Duke

This is pretty cool: Dame Sarr, who grew up in Italy, says he’s living out a long-time ideal:

“It was always a dream to play in a school like Duke,” Sarr told On3.com . “When I saw the guys from last year that went to the Draft and I saw that there was this chance for me. Talking with coach [Jon] Scheyer and coach [Emanuel Dildy], I had a very clear picture of what they saw in me and the team. I liked that picture and thought it was great. I was playing for Barcelona in the FIBA cup so I wanted to be in a big college. So I think this is the biggest stage and I want to play with and against the best players and win. I think it was a very easy decision. I’m very happy that I made the decision and that’s what I felt in my heart.”

He went on to say that being on a big stage is ideal for him and that people he talked to only had good things to say about Duke.

Sarr is going to be a really interesting player on this team. There is a lot of talent but everyone has flaws. Isaiah Evans and Nik Khamenia are pretty thin. Caleb Foster still has to put together a solid season. Cayden Boozer has to show he can run a team. Maliq Brown had a wonderful season last year but it was marred by injury.

There are going to be opportunities for Sarr, in other words, and what he makes of them and how he fits in will have a huge impact on the season.
